What do the symbols on our candles mean?

All our candles display symbols to show you how to burn the candles safely. That way, you can get the most out of our candles.

Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Place candles at a distance of 10 cm from eachother. Candles which are placed too close together can use eachothers’ heat which might cause dripping.

Burn candles out of the reach of children and pets.

Do not place a burning candle close to a heat source such as sunlight, a heater or a fireplace. Candles which are placed too close a to heat source may drip.

Do not place candles in a draft. A candle placed in a draft will always smoke and drip.

Never place a burning candle near curtains or other flammable objects. It is open fire, therefore caution is always necessary.

Place a candle straight up. A leaning candle will always drip and smoke.

Make sure that the side of a pillar candle does not get too high. Cut it down if it gets higher than 1 cm.

The wick should not be longer than 1 cm. If the wick is longer it may smoke and flicker. If necessary, cut the wick before lighting the candle.

Place a candle on a non flammable coaster or in a non flammable holder. Of course, make sure the candle is placed in an adequate way and cannot not fall over.

Do not move a burning candle.

Do not extinguish a candle with water.

Remove the label before lighting the candle.

Do not place a burnt match or other materials in the candle-grease. It may case a second flame which results in the candle burning not in a correct way.

Be careful. The product will get hot, don't touch it!

Place a tealight in a hot plate with holes for ventilation. A candle needs oxygen to burn. Without it the candle will go out. Moreover, without ventilation, the heat in the hot plate may increase.

This product is not suitable for burners.

Snuff out the candle before it has burned down to 1 centimetre from the edge of the candle-holder.

Use, preferably, a snuffer. This prevents drops of wax on table cloths, clothing etc. If you do not have a snuffer, blow carefully and hold your hand behind the candle.

Ventilate the room after use.

Always use a suitable holder as these candles will become fluid completely whilst burning.

This candle is not suitable for indoor use. Only use this candle outdoors. 

Do not place this item on the table.

Always place in upright position.

Do not inhale the smoke directly.

Not suitable for consumption.

This candle will burn for approximately 25 hours in a surrounding temperature of 15-25 degrees Celsius.
